I shot this after a long, hot walk on the National Mall carrying my son on my shoulders and my camera gear in a backpack. It turns out the walk was worth the effort.

That was quite a thunderstorm last night. This was what we saw from our deck before the rain came.
After a long day at work, I was walking in the parking lot to my Jeep. The sky was on fire with brilliant colors. It made me happy that I always carry my camera with me. Something to note, there are literally millions of birds in the sky in the distance. This is something I’ve noticed about working here at Aberdeen Proving Ground. The installation is something of a wildlife refuge. With the wide expanses of fenced off forests, nature has taken over. The installations boasts the largest population of Bald Eagles on the East Coast. The birds in the photo however are starlings (I think).
After dinner with classmates, we explored the shopping area at this outdoor Kansas City mall. I’ve been to Kansas City twice. First for an Army conference in 2008 and then when I attended the Army Management Staff College at nearby Fort Leavenworth in 2009. It’s a beautiful city!
