Jeju Trip Day Three
This is the view from our Hilton Hotel suite on Jeju Island, Korea. We spent our 8th wedding anniversary enjoying the sights! Jen’s sister is watching the kids for our three-day vacation. It’s strange being alone, but in a nice way!

Forgive the Photoshop effects. Purple looks cool, but the sky was really more of a blue!

HDR

HDR Woljeongsa
A light breeze rings a bell at Woljoeng Temple. Woljoengsa is one of five Buddhist temples in Odaesan National Park on Korea’s scenic east coast. Visitors enjoy peace and solitude at this serene locale four hours drive from the hussle and bussle of Seoul.

I originally shot this in May 2005 during a vacation. Recently a designer for Singapore Air Magazine contacted me. This is a composite shot of three bracketed exposures from a tripod in Camera RAW. I guess it pays to shoot everything in RAW and archive your digital negatives!

I combined the three shots in CS4 Bridge>Tools>Merge to HDR. The resulting shot was a 32-bit high-res image. Because the wind was blowing, I then had to address the wind chime’s movement. I converted the HDR image to 8-bit RGB and opened another raw version to mask in just one chime. This was shot with my old Nikon D70 and doesn’t have the sharpness I am accustomed to these days. But it ran on the pages of Singapore Air Magazine, so you have got to give some credibility to the old D70!
